Place your marker on any vacant point of the board. Strive to form a line of five stones in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Stop your rival from completing their own line of five. Alternate putting pieces with your opponent until one contestant achieves in making a line of five. Keep in mind that the match ends immediately when a row of 5 is created, with no need to fill the entire board.
